Chilly Gonzales – o músico canadiano que já colaborou com Daft Punk, Feist, Drake e muitos outros ao longo dos anos – lançou uma nova música chamada “F*ck Wagner”, um sentimento que já tinha expressado anteriormente numa aparição na televisão alemã há quase uma década atrás. “Podemos separar a arte do artista?” Gonzales escreveu no seu Instagram. “Eu digo sim e F*CK WAGNER.”
Mais habituado a lançar músicas de piano apenas, a nova faixa é uma das canções rap de Gonzales, algo que ele já fez no passado, e começa curto e direto “F-U-C-K Richard Wagner/ What a motherfucking monster/ King Kong conquered Western culture/ Fuck him and his Nazi granddaughter” – e continua com menção a Kanye West, outro conhecido anti-semita: “Harder, faster, better, stronger/ Kanye West is the brand new Wagner”.
“I know that we shouldn’t speak ill of the dead/ But this decomposing composer needs a kick in the head”, diz Gonzales, continuando: “First of all, he was anti-Semitic/ But worst of all/ He was glad to admit it/ He said a Jew poet/ Couldn’t be a true poet/ But have you heard ‘Hotline Bling’?/ A Jew wrote it.”
“So can the artist and the art ever be separated?/ It’s hard to boycott something that you love/ But it’s easy if you hate it”, continua Gonzales. “Like if I never hear Richard Wagner again/ I know I wouldn’t miss him/ But I still bang that R. Kelly remix to ‘Ignition.’” (R. Kelly está atualmente a cumprir pena de prisão por pornografia infantil e extorsão assim como acusações de tráfico sexual.)
